The automatic bilge pump comes with a positive and negative wire that you can attach to a battery or large enough solar panel with the fittings. The pump is quite powerful so if it is pumping a lot the amount of energy needed to keep going would be more that is usually stored by the basic solar systems. You can wired the automatic bilge pump to the 12 volt battery in the dinghy and it does its own thing quite happily. When it is going to be dry for several days you can disconnect it as it automatically comes on about every two and a half minutes to check the water depth.
